Situation Benchmarking data showed that nuclear test throughput lagged compared to other practices both nationally and locally. Timely patient access was difficult and nuclear technologist turnover was high.
Goal Increase nuclear test capacity and utilization while improving patient satisfaction and maintaining test quality.
Approach Conducted referring physician and patient satisfaction surveys.  Identified key process variables and compared to industry standards and local competition.  Observed the nuclear test process and collected data by camera and staff responsibility.  Recommended a mix of solutions that affected the nuclear test protocol, cameras, job responsibilities and the data used to manage the process.
Results Increased profitability one year later by $1.2 M.  Significantly reduced employee turnover and improved patient satisfaction.
