Situation Medical practice billing offices are under extreme pressure to collect all money owed whether from Medicare, Medicaid or commercial insurers.  Many billing managers are busy doing day-to-day work and do not have a systematic method to manage the process.  The billing office and coding network meet two days annually to discuss current issues.
Goal Focus billing managers on revenue cycle management, a hierarchy of variables and measures, and their links to the billing process.
Approach Systematically design with the Director of BOCN and selected network members a 2-day meeting focused on aligning the mission, dashboard, process and jobs of the billing process.
Results The largest attended meeting since the network was founded in 2005.  Attendees each left with an Action Plan.
